Overview

Description

Summertime Blues is a cozy, community-oriented dance weekend set in a beautiful park by the river Sieg. Surrounded by trees, soft lights and open green spaces, the event invites you to slow down, connect and enjoy dancing in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The focus lies on social dancing, shared experiences and playful classes with the Afro-American Blues dance. A private pre-party, workshops, taster and social dances, as well as a lounging area and great food await you! Whether you dance a lot or simply enjoy being there, Summertime Blues offers space for connection, music and rest. With the our emphasis on community, non-dancing companions are welcome, as well as your dog. Classes are taught in German and English.

Travel notes

What to know

The city of Windeck, near Cologne and Bonn, is likely to offer a charming setting for the Summertime Blues festival. In August, Germany typically experiences warm weather, so packing light and breathable clothing is a good idea. It's probably a good idea to bring layers for cooler evenings in out valley at the river as well.

To get to Windeck, attendees usually fly into nearby airports or take trains to major rail hubs like Cologne or Bonn. From there, local transportation options are available. The nearest train station is "Herchen", which is 2 kilometers distant from the venue. Accommodation and food costs in the area may vary, but it's generally a good idea to budget for moderate to high prices, especially during peak travel seasons. The beautiful Windeck area is well worth a longer stay. Hiking, cycling and canoeing or stand-up paddleboarding on the river are just some of the highlights here.

For dancers planning to attend, it's a good idea to book accommodations and transportation in advance to ensure availability. Having/Renting a car or bike as well as connecting for carpooling is recommended. Additionally, researching local transportation options and festival venue details ahead of time can help make the most of your trip.
