Overview
Description
Inspired by the spirit and atmosphere of traditional Juke Joints, BJJW brings together Blues dance, live music, cultural exchange and community for a weekend of learning, dancing and connection.
Our 2026 teaching line-up welcomes Trisha Sewell, Dexter Santos, Gas & Maria, Annette Kühnle, Bibi and Luísa Barros, alongside other guest teachers bringing different cultural and dance perspectives to the weekend.
The programme includes Partner and Solo Blues tracks, themed classes, live bands, social dancing, talks and cultural activities, with plenty of opportunities to connect with dancers from around the world and experience the city of Porto.
More than a dance festival, BJJW celebrates Blues as a living cultural expression — its music, its dance, its history and the communities that continue to carry it forward.
Travel notes
What to know
Classes are taught in English, and our community welcomes dancers from many different countries.
Porto Airport is directly connected to the city centre by metro, and getting around the city is easy by metro, bus or on foot.
October in Porto is generally mild, but the weather can be changeable. We recommend bringing a light jacket, something for the rain and comfortable shoes — Porto is beautiful, but hilly!
The weekend is designed to give you time not only to dance, but also to experience Porto, connect with the local community and discover some of its culture.
Come ready to dance, listen, learn, share and enjoy the weekend with us.
